Some of the things I have to plan for.
Power: Grid, solar or some sort of generator.
Waste: Black water, gray water ect.
Water: Well or grid.
Food Production: I will need to provide somewhere in the 90% range.

Some of the simple things.
Hot water.
A way to washing clothes.
Heat for the winter.
A way to cook for the group.

At my friend sandra's 84 acre farm cum intentional community
it's blazing hot in summer with only enough electricity for a fan or two
this being central virginia and not michigan!!
and freezing cold in winter
wood stoves being inadequate for the large cabin

so I wish there were REAL breakthroughs in solar and battery power
portable even
I look at the GOAL ZERO
so-called cutting edge portable solar generators
they can charge very little
mostly cell phones, tablets and laptops
the most EXPENSIVE costliest system even a mini-fridge
for lots of money
just doesn't cut it yet
to be...still ancient battery technology
we nEED REAL BREAKTHROUGHS and affordable
I don't see it yet
for the unwashed masses of NON-handy non-mechanically inclined like me

some sort of power is truly the goal
with FOOD always in the background
